Ladies First Hockey Foundation Achieves New Record Level At 2016 Good As Gold Event
Supporting Canadian Women's National Team Players

Toronto, Ontario (June 2016) – The Ladies First Hockey Foundation hosted the 14 th Annual Good As Gold Signature Event celebrating the Players of Canada's National Women's Hockey Program. This year's Good As Gold set a new benchmark in experience and drove a new fundraising milestone moving to the $1.75 million level (with 100% of all net funds benefiting the players, families and program). This new record was announced at the event's closing "Breakfast of Champions" celebrating the 2016 World Championship Team Roster. The Ladies First Hockey Foundation hosts this annual signature event in partnership and direct support of Hockey Canada's National Women's Hockey players, program and team.

Good As Gold proudly returned to Hockley Valley Resort (in Mono, Ontario) welcoming back Canadian Sports Commentator John Bartlett (known widely as, "the voice of the Canadiens" on Sportsnet) as the weekend's Master of Ceremonies. This event could not enjoy the success it does without the generous support and partnership of its sponsors and participants. Good As Gold was once again championed by Presenting Sponsor, The Globe and Mail, who has been the lead partner for each of the Foundation's last twelve years. The Globe presented Good As Gold in partnership with BMO Insurance and an overall new record number of event sponsors; a complete listing can be found identified on the Foundation's web page directly at: http://www.ladiesfirsthockeyfoundation.com/sponsors.html

This unique event opened with video tributes and player introductions followed by the Presenting Sponsor Welcome from Sean Humphries (Vice President Marketing for The Globe and Mail).

Guests then enjoyed a special welcome from Team Canada's Meaghan Mikkelson-Reid, whom personally thanked sponsors on behalf of the team for their support of the National Women's Program. Team Canada Players then interacted with participants for a fun evening of outstanding food, auctions and entertainment with the music of Kenny Munshaw.

Following Saturday morning's breakfast (sponsored by Glacier Media Group) participants competed in the Good as Gold Golf Tournament at Hockley Valley's signature course. Golf Carts were sponsored by Forces and Families in partnership with Westjet; the day's lunch was sponsored by Traction Heavy Duty Parts and the Aprés Golf Party was sponsored by Cushman & Wakefield. The tournament's unique experience is having a member of the Women's National Team or Alumni join each foursome to spend the day together – a highlight for both sponsor partner and player.

Saturday evening featured an outdoor dinner reception experience at Hockley Valley's Restaurant 85 highlighted with a welcome from Phillip Crawley (CEO & Publisher of The Globe and Mail), an inspirational reflection from long time Canadian net-minder and role model Charline Labonté, the annual Smartbooth Images Photo-Booth and an evening of entertainment from Kenny Munshaw with Fred Hale (the entire evening sponsored by Sun Life Financial of Canada).

Sunday morning closed with the annual "Breakfast of Champions" (sponsored by Hockey Canada) with all members of the Women's National Team and guest Alumni in attendance providing an intimate opportunity for the Players and Foundation to acknowledge guests and sponsors while showcasing the players. Highlights of the Breakfast included a video overview of the player's 2016 World Championship experiences (special thank you to Hockey Canada) followed by Gina Kingsbury (Hockey Canada Director of Women's Team Programs) and reflections shared from Team Canada Captain Marie-Philip Poulin thanking participants. Good as Gold was then closed by Sponsor Partner (and Ladies First Board Member & Executive Director) Peter McCarthy (President & CEO of BMO Insurance).

Special notes of appreciation as Molson Coors provided beverages and special donations for the event; Westjet partnered to ensure special experiences; NAPA Canada, Hockey Canada, The Crane Resort - Barbados and CFF Stainless made special contributions; Rogers TV for video support and the CWHL (Canadian Women's Hockey League), which is the host professional league home of 18 members of Canada's Roster (and past & future members) provided special VIP opportunities the coming season.

The Ladies First Hockey Foundation and Players of the National Team extend their appreciation for the support from across Canada as the program continues to drive such incredible success on a world scale. These are elite athletes, role model individuals and ambassadors for all Canadians.
