Ladies First Hockey Foundation Celebrates 2019 Good As Gold 17 th Annual Event
Supporting Canadian Women’s National Team Players Passing Over $2,100,000 Raised

Toronto, Ontario (June 2019) – The Ladies First Hockey Foundation hosted the 17 th Annual Good As Gold Signature Event supporting the Players of Canada’s National Women’s Hockey Program. This year’s Good As Gold celebrated Canada’s 2019 World Championship Team exceeding a new fundraising milestone pushing over a total of $2.1 million raised (with 100% of all net funds benefiting the players, families and program). This milestone was announced at the event’s closing “Breakfast of Champions” celebrating the 2019 Roster. The Ladies First Hockey Foundation hosts this annual signature event in partnership and direct support of Hockey Canada’s National Women’s Hockey players, program and team.

Good As Gold proudly returned to Hockley Valley Resort (in Mono, Ontario) welcoming back Canadian Sports Commentator John Bartlett (from Sportsnet) as Master of Ceremonies and a unique format that has each Sponsor Group hosted by a team member for the weekend events. This event could not enjoy the success it does without the generous support and partnership of its sponsors and participants. Good As Gold was once again championed by Presenting Sponsor, The Globe and Mail, who has been the lead partner for each of the Foundation’s last fifteen years. The Globe presented Good As Gold in partnership with BMO Insurance and an overall exceptional list of sponsors; a complete listing is identified on the Foundation’s web page directly here.

The kickoff evening was sponsored by Michael Williams & Family opening with video tributes, player introductions and then guests enjoyed a special welcome from Team Canada’s Brianne Jenner (right), whom personally thanked sponsors on behalf of the team for their support of the Players of our National Women’s Program. Team Canada Players then interacted with participants for a fun evening of outstanding food, auctions and entertainment to the music of Kenny Munshaw and Friends (all weekend long sponsored by TORYS LLP) closing with the Late Night Poolside Party.

Following Saturday morning’s breakfast (sponsored by Glacier Media Group) participants competed in the Good as Gold Golf Tournament at Hockley Valley’s signature course. Golf Carts were sponsored by Jill McCutcheon Professional Corporation (President Jill McCutcheon is a LFHF Board Member); the day’s lunch was sponsored by Traction Heavy Duty Parts and the Aprés Golf Party sponsored by Manulife. The tournament’s unique experience is having a member of the Women’s National Team or Alumni join each foursome to spend the day together – a highlight for both sponsor partner and player with this year’s winning team from BMO Capital Markets with Team Canada player Emily Clark.

Saturday evening featured a dinner reception (sponsored by Sun Life Financial) highlighted with an inspirational reflection from veteran team member and role model Jillian Saulnier (below) and welcome from Phillip Crawley (CEO & Publisher of The Globe and Mail), the annual Smartbooth Images Photo-Booth, the exciting live auction and an evening of entertainment from Kenny Munshaw and Friends (again sponsored by TORYS LLP).

Sunday morning closed with the annual “Breakfast of Champions” (sponsored by Hockey Canada) with members of the Women’s National Team and guest Alumni in attendance providing an intimate opportunity for the Players and Foundation to acknowledge guests and sponsors while showcasing the players. Highlights of the Breakfast included an overview of 2019 Player Accomplishments (special thank you to Hockey Canada) followed by Gina Kingsbury (Hockey Canada Director of Women’s Team Programs) and reflections shared from Team Canada Captain Marie-Philip Poulin thanking participants. Good as Gold was then closed by Sponsor Partner (and Ladies First Board Member & Executive Director) Peter McCarthy (President & CEO of BMO Insurance).

Special notes of appreciation and contributions - Molson Coors for a 17th year providing event beverages and gifts; Westjet; NAPA Canada, Hockey Canada, CPMA’s Half Your Plate, Mizuno Canada, John Mendonca Video Production, Dave Baker “” and ProAm Images for capturing all the moments & memories.
